How to Draw a Naked Daughter

How much of us stays in what we do? We spend much of our lives anguishing - almost always pointlessly - about how others will judge or remember what we do. We value those who do and those who create, believing that the act of transforming the world is a privilege of heroes and saints. But at a time when saints and heroes are increasingly suspect, what should we do with the legacy of those who are no longer here to explain or defend themselves? What to do with the works of art of those who lived in another time, but also built the time in which we live today?

"Como desenhar uma filha nua" (How to draw a naked daughter) is a participatory reading performance that explores the written word, reading aloud and design as tools of performative expression. A performer leads a common reading of an artist's biography, a graphic and fictional work that explores the many dimensions of a life, and addresses the controversial question of how biographical data can inspire, complicate or tarnish an entire artistic work.
